Tell This Story at Least Once a Year to be Happy

Every couple has a beginning—a moment, a spark, a shared laugh or glance that set everything in motion. Revisiting that story, the story of how you met, isn’t just a sentimental trip down memory lane. It’s a powerful way to reconnect. My husband Andy and I met 9 years ago Sunday. And do you know what we did Saturday night? We sat around and re-told our story to one another.
Those early days were magical for a reason: they were filled with curiosity, butterflies, and discovery. Remembering them brings those emotions rushing back, reminding you not just how, but why you fell in love in the first place.
When couples take the time to retell their “how we met” story, they often find themselves laughing again, leaning in again, feeling close again. And hearing it from each other’s perspectives? That’s where the real magic lives. You get to see yourself through your partner’s eyes—and that’s a beautiful thing.
So here’s your gentle nudge: make it a yearly tradition. Maybe over coffee, a long walk, or a cozy night in. Share your story. Keep it alive. Because love stories, especially yours, deserve to be told—and re-told.
